(TITC) – On 8 May 2024, Vietnam’s dossier of Bas-reliefs on the Nine Bronze Urns in Hue Imperial Palace was inscribed in the UNESCO’s Memory of the World.
From 6 to 10 May 2024, Vietnam attended the 10th General Meeting of the Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific (MOWCAP) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
At the meeting, delegates reviewed the work and developed plans of the MOWCAP Program in the coming time, and approved 20 dossiers from 11 countries to UNESCO’s Memory of the World in Asia-Pacific including: Australia and Tuvalu, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
With typical values of information content, unique form, and especially significance for the Asia-Pacific region, Vietnam's dossier of Bas-reliefs on the Nine Bronze Urns was approved with an absolute majority of votes 23/23.
The bas-relief on nine bronze ums in Hue Imperial Palace were cast in Emperor Minh Mang's Era in 1835. This is a precious heritage and rare source of documents with many values in history, culture - education, geography... demonstrating the talented art of calligraphy and bronze casting of the Vietnamese people.
The bas-relief also store many values about the cultural and social interaction and relationships of Vietnam with countries in the East Asian region.
