How Long is Enough for Traveling in Vietnam?

How Long is Enough for Traveling in Vietnam?

"How Long is Enough for Traveling in Vietnam?" - This is certainly a challenging question that foreign visitors who have never set foot in Vietnam will ask while preparing and planning for their trip to Vietnam.

Khách quốc tế đến Việt Nam bắt đầu tăng trưởng tốt

The answer is incredibly diverse. Some people say that 2-3 weeks are enough to explore the S-shaped country, some spend a whole month exploring a single place to their heart's content, while others claim, "I've been here for years and still don't dare to say I know enough about Vietnam."

At Least 2 Weeks for a Trip to Vietnam

Jeanine Romo, a travel blogger who has visited 44 countries, believes that travelers should spend at least 2 weeks to explore Vietnam. According to her, 2 weeks is just enough time to visit 3-4 cities in Vietnam. Jeanine first came to Vietnam in 2019, gifting herself a 3-week trip to celebrate her birthday. She visited Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Tam Coc, Hoi An, and Ho Chi Minh City. At the end of 2023, she returned to visit Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, and Da Nang.

"I wanted to visit Vietnam because it's a beautiful country with many amazing natural wonders, diverse culture, and delicious food," Jeanine shared with Tuoi Tre Online. "I was constantly impressed by the natural beauty of this country, from coastal landscapes to mountains and rivers; Vietnam is truly breathtaking. I was also impressed with the cities, loving the peaceful streets and alleys in Hoi An, as well as the bustling urban areas of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City."

Jeanine affirmed she could return to Vietnam hundreds of times without getting bored. "I will definitely return to Vietnam! This country is vast and has so many interesting things that you can keep coming back and still experience something completely different from what you knew before," she explained. For those inexperienced in traveling to Vietnam, Jeanine advises paying attention to the weather. "The weather in Vietnam varies by region, so it can be sunny in a southern city but raining in the north. You can visit many cities within 2-3 weeks, but the weather can change significantly between places," she said.

How Long to Truly Love Vietnam?

Meanwhile, Joss Huot, a French-Canadian, said that although he has lived in Vietnam for 5 years and visited the country 9 times in 13 years before that, he still feels he hasn't fully known the country. The 61-year-old man from Quebec first came to Vietnam in 2006, staying in Hanoi before traveling south, and 16 days later, he spent 5 more days in Ho Chi Minh City. A year later, he returned, stayed for 3 weeks, and traveled from South to North. During these two trips, he also visited Sa Pa, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Mui Ne, Ben Tre, and Can Tho.

Joss shared that his main motivation for coming to Vietnam in 2006 was to learn about the Vietnamese people after reading a lot about the war in this country. Later, when asked what he liked most about Vietnam, he always answered, "the people." In 2014, through friends, he met the love of his life, got married, and they both lived in Tan Binh District. Officially living in Vietnam since 2019, having visited 9 times since 2006, Joss still asserts that Vietnam always has new things to explore. In his free time, Joss often carries his camera everywhere to capture and preserve beautiful images of Vietnam.

For him, the biggest difference between living in Vietnam and traveling in Vietnam is that he has more time to explore. "I don't need to rush to visit places before leaving. I can simply enjoy a day, drink coffee, and tea with the locals. I walk a lot, go through many alleys in different districts, connect with people, make friends, and learn more about the local culture every day," Joss shared. Based on his experience, Joss thinks travelers should spend at least 3 weeks on a trip to Vietnam to have the opportunity to stop at many places and stay for one or two nights in each place.
